I really don’t understand why liberalism is being questioned on a union website. Personally, I see merit in liberalism and conservatism. I think everyone should be a critical thinker and make their own decisions. This is democracy. But, it is a fact that conservative politicians have not been friends of the labor movement.
It was Reagan that gave us PATCO. It was under Roosevelt that the Wagner Act was passed that gave unions the right to exist. FDR also gave us Social Security. It was Democrats and unions that pushed for and got civil rights for all citizens.
The Republicans are mostly responsible for globalization. However, Clinton did finish where George H. Bush started with NAFTA. Although, I feel that Clinton was wrong, union members have too realize that Presidents make appointments to the judicial system, NLRB, and all cabinet posts and staff. Clinton was wrong with NAFTA, but most of his appointments were union friendly.
Republicans/Conservatives just don’t get it when it comes to unions. Remember a few years ago when they tried to gut Workman’s Compensation. Part of the reason Delphi is getting away with so much is because there have been too many Republicans/ Conservatives too long.
No one even corporations can afford health care. The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not have it. Even South Africa is ahead of us in health care. The problem is too many Republicans/Conservatives too long. All union members should watch C-Span, and keep up with how their representatives vote. If they did they would see that Republicans/Conservatives are not on the union’s side.
In response: Perhaps I, should have mentioned that the comments were mine.
They are not neccesarily those of all the rest of our retired members.

Good morning,
I have been asked to send an email to some friends of a guy in Arcanum who worked at the south plant as a millwright on third shift.
He has recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and is about to start chemo. His name is Gene Myers.
My problem is that I don't have the email addresses and even if I did, I don't know the names of guys on the millwright crew.
I knew a couple at the south plant by the name of Big Dog and Pup, but that doesn't help much. The 2 of them always worked together and Gary was the big guys name and Forrest was the little guys name, and that doesn't help either!
I was wondering if you knew any of them and if you did, could you send an email to them and ask them to spread the word about Gene.
This seems to be pretty important to Gene's brother that this info gets to his friends. Anything you can do would be appreciated.
Tom Roudebush
PS Let me know if you can help, THANKS

| Comments: | I currently live in N. Ft. Myers, FL.
Is there anyone else out there that has trouble with the health insurance (traditonal Blue Cross Blue Shield) paying anything?
I have to use BCBS in Jacksonville, and they don't want to pay for any claim except emergency ones, no tests or anything.
Not even the ones recommended by my family doctor.
Their answer is (routine) and not covered.
Feel free to e-mail me directly.
Great job Fred!!
Keep up the good work. Being here, it is the only way I can keep up on news about work.
Thanks

You have a great website. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. I was at the last meeting.
I'm glad you told people to visit your site for information. I appreciate the service you are providing.
I want to make a brief comment on the Delphi situation.
Delphi's problems/our problems are a result of globalization and poor management.
Be that as it may our nation desperately needs a national health care system.
Health care is too expensive for individuals or corporations.
I am urging everyone who reads this post to write their political leaders, and stress the need for this legislation.
Your site is grass roots democracy. The best kind.
The nice comments are appreciated. However, the web site is ours, not mine.
Thank you,
Fred Dooley Webmaster
